Plays

Is your school or theatre company interested in putting on one of our original shows? If so, we will provide you with the materials you need which include the script, score and CD’s. Our musicals are primarily based on classic children's stories. The songs in these plays expose participants to a variety of musical genres and the scripts try to honor the style, mood, spirit, and tone of the original works as much as possible. All the music in these plays was composed by Bob Nicoll, a musician who has composed, directed and performed for numerous theaters over the years including The Lyric Stage and Boston Center for the Arts, both in Boston MA. All the scripts were written by Jen Davis, a licensed public school teacher. At the beginning of all the scripts you will find directors notes which include production, costumes, and needed stage props. These plays are sure to inspire a love for musical theater in the performers and audience alike.

Take a look through our plays and packages. Under the "Plays" tab, you will find 7 plays that we offer. Each play package comes with the script, performance and rehearsal CD's, the piano and vocal score, director's notes and the option to purchase 1-5 performance licenses.

The Bremen Town Musicians

This is a story about four elderly animals who were going to be killed by their owners, so they escaped. All four animals meet each other on their journey after escaping and decide they’re going to go to the town of Bremen to start a band. Each animal has their own distinct personality and story which they share with each other. The donkey had become too old and weak to carry grain for his master and therefore his owners wanted to kill him. The dog was no longer able to hunt, the cat was too old to catch mice, and the rooster always crowed driving their owner crazy. As the animals are traveling through the woods together they become friends and then come across a house that is inhabited by robbers. They devise a plan to scare away the robbers, so they can enter the house and enjoy the feast. Once they are in the house, the animals decide to live out their days there rather than travel to Bremen.

Immigrant Children’s Monologues

There are four monologues in total and they could be performed by students in middle school and high school, as well as adults. They could also be read during a cultural competency training. If the monologues are read back-to-back, the duration would be about twenty minutes. If you want to lengthen the performance, dances or songs could be added between each monologue based on the culture of the monologue prior performed.
