There is so much in life that can be stressful and put you in a negative spin. Pressure to succeed, financial concerns, the weather!, politics. We can go for weeks, months, years or even lifetimes, dwelling in worries. But this morning I am focused on utilizing the skills I have learned on my journey. Letting go, movement, call it martial arts or dance, playing the piano, reading about distant planets. I've been on a classical kick lately on piano and also jazz, bringing it to the church, realizing that composers from several hundred years ago were pretty amazing and their music still resonates and inspires. And remembering the summer and our show "The Bremen Town Musicians". Couldn't resist the plug and putting in a picture of my awesome son Jarrett..
Well, the summer is over and The Bremen Town Musicians has been performed. I'm really happy with the way it turned out! To all you teachers and director's out there it's a really good play. Great script, really meaningful and catchy music. Anyway, we may do The Wizard of Oz next summer. I have a musical score that was performed by Miscoe Hill middle school in Upton a while back.
For now it's back to running my youth bands and lessons, searching for the meaning of life in my studio and playing music at the Unitarian church in Grafton. We have a 150 year old organ that I've started to play. Enjoying using my feet! Next Sunday in honor of the Jewish holidays, we'll be performing "Sunrise Sunset" with a choral arrangement I just created. Lots of good stuff going on. Youth bands playing at The Amazing Things Arts Center in Framingham.
What an awesome 2 weeks of rehearsal and a great show yesterday! Congratulations to everyone who was a part of it!
We're so proud of all the kids and helpers. Here's some pictures from the show. Check out the video on our home page too!! Let us know what you think
